Commissioner awards excellence in Corrections
Queensland Corrective Services officers and staff have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to public safety at the 2022 Commissioner’s Awards for Excellence.
Minister for Corrective Services Mark Ryan said the awards celebrated exceptional performance and service delivery in corrections across Queensland.
“From resolving potentially volatile situations to ensuring safe and secure correctional services, officers and staff from across the state were recognised for going above and beyond,” Minister Ryan said.
“It is an honour to celebrate the individual officers, staff and teams who have excelled in their duty over the past 12 months.
“The remarkable work of our corrections officers and staff to keep the community safe is performed often under the most challenging of circumstances.”
Commissioner Paul Stewart APM congratulated the recipients of the 2022 excellence awards who were announced at a ceremony at Brisbane City Hall.
“The recipients of the Commissioner’s Awards for Excellence represent just a fraction of the excellent work done by our officers and staff across the length and breadth of Queensland,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“I thank them, and all of our officers and staff for never losing sight of the core work of our agency, which is to make Queensland safer for everybody by reducing crime through the containment, supervision and rehabilitation of those who offend against our community.”
The awards are aligned to the principles of the QCS Corrections 2030 strategy, with officers and staff recognised for excellence in: safety, collaboration, empowerment, respect and accountability.
This year’s Commissioner’s Awards for National Corrections Day and International Women’s Day, which had been delayed by COVID-19 were also presented at the ceremony.
