Death in custody at Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre

Queensland Corrective Services can confirm that Queensland Police Service is preparing a report for the coroner into the death of a 51-year-old prisoner at Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre this morning.

The woman, who was in a single cell in the residential area, was located by staff at 4:20am.

CPR was commenced immediately and an ambulance was called, but the woman could not be revived.

Queensland Police Service was notified of the incident and we are assisting them with the matter.
