Death in custody, Wolston Correctional Centre
Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) can confirm the death of a prisoner in QCS custody at the Princess Alexandra Hospital today.
The 26-year old man was found nonresponsive in a single occupancy cell at Wolston Correctional Centre on February 16 and responding officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital and was pronounced deceased today.
Support is being offered to the responding officers and their colleagues at Wolston Correctional Centre.
The responding officers have been praised by Senior Officers for their professional, swift response to the incident.
The Corrective Services Investigation Unit has been advised, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
