General Manager suspended
Queensland Corrective Services can confirm that the General Manager of Townsville Correctional Centre has been suspended from duty.
An ethical standards investigation into allegations arising from an alleged inappropriate misuse of his position and departmental resources is underway.
Queensland Corrective Services expects the highest standards of ethical and professional standards from officers at every level of the organisation.
As the matter is subject of an ongoing investigation, it would be inappropriate to provide any further comment.
The suspension is effective immediately, and until further advised, the role of General Manager of Townsville Correctional Centre will be filled by Acting Chief Superintendent Louise Kneeshaw, who has extensive experience in both custodial and community corrections with Queensland Corrective Services.
A/g Chief Supt. Kneeshaw has most recently been in the role of Deputy General Manager, Townsville Women’s Correctional Centre.
A press conference will be held at the Townsville Correctional Complex this afternoon. Details to be confirmed for approximately 2:30pm.
