Minor disturbance: Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre

Queensland Corrective Services can confirm that a prisoner caused minor damage to a unit at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre overnight after managing to access a common area in a secure unit.

Initial information is that the prisoner entered the common area shortly about midnight and stole some items. A small fire was observed outside the unit.

A Tactical Response Team entered the unit and removed the prisoner and his cellmate to another unit early this morning without incident.

A full search of the unit will be conducted this morning to retrieve the items taken by the prisoner during the incident.
