Officers recognised in Australia Day Honours List
A number of Queensland Corrective Services officers were recognised in today’s Australia Day Honours List.
Congratulations to Assistant Commissioner (AC), Central and Northern Region Command, Peter Shaddock on his Public Service Medal as a part of the Australia Day Honours.
AC Shaddock commenced his career with Queensland Corrective Services more than 36 years ago in 1984 as a First Class Custodial Correctional Officer at the Rockhampton Correctional Centre.
Since then, AC Shaddock has succeeded in numerous roles within the Custodial Operations directorate, including the management of low and high security correctional centres, with male and female prisoners, as well as leadership roles in QCS Headquarters.
AC Shaddock’s achievements of note include his work in improving the management of transgender prisoners; his work in facilitating spiritual support for prisoners of the Islamic faith and his management of the closure of the Darling Downs Correctional Centre.
Also recognised for their service are three recipients of the Australian Corrections Medal.
They are:
Roberta Embrey, Acting Chief Superintendent of Sentence Management Services, is recognised for her commitment to improving outcomes for prisoners and offenders within Queensland Corrective Services over her 24-year career and her significant contribution to community safety.
Steven Mitchell, Senior Psychologist at Maryborough Correctional Centre, is recognised for his distinguished services to Queensland Corrective Services, to the rehabilitation of prisoners and to community safety throughout his 24-year-career.
Chel Sealey, Acting Superintendent of South Coast Region Community Corrections, is recognised for her distinguished service to Queensland Corrective Services, particularly in the Community Corrections field, throughout her 15-year career.
Commissioner Peter Martin APM said this year’s recipients represented the many different roles that corrective services officers play to keep the community of Queensland safe.
