QCS and QPS officers in Townsville contri-brew-te to community safety

Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) and the Queensland Police Service (QPS) are meeting on hallowed grounds in Townsville next week to talk with locals about community safety.

The collaborative event will be held on Tuesday 17 December at The Willows Shopping Centre, starting at 10:30am – 12:30pm and will take place at Market Court, supported by Baker & Barista and The Coffee Emporium.

Brew with a Justice Group represents an opportunity for the people of Townsville to engage with senior officers and discuss the role both agencies play in increasing safety.

Officers from QCS will include officers from Community Corrections and well as the Townsville Correctional Centre.

Manager Regional Operations, Northern Region Community Corrections Ann-Maree Giles said that events like this are a great opportunity for people to speak with officers on the front line in a casual environment about safety in their community.

“We find that members of the community sometimes don’t know exactly how our departments work together to increase safety and reduce crime in Townsville and across Queensland,” Ms Giles said.

“So events like this give us a chance to engage with the people of Townsville in friendly, casual setting and answer any questions they may have and provide them with information.

We all live and work in Townsville and are committed to keeping our community safe as well as reducing crime and recidivism with our partner agencies.

QCS work very closely with QPS and other groups and agencies across Townsville to achieve this, so come on down and have a coffee and a chat and find out more about how we can all make our community safe.”
