Reporting near Queensland prisons

Queensland Corrective Services would like to remind journalists and news crews that under Section 132 of the Corrections Act, it is an offence to record or photograph Queensland Corrective Services’ facilities without the permission of the Commissioner.

Our officers patrol the perimeters of our centres and have legislative authority under section 130 of the Corrections Act to detain trespassers who enter prison reserves without permission.

Prison reserves are signed around the perimeter, and extend to the public roadway. 

To ensure the safety and security of our centres, QCS asks you to follow all directions given by our officers as they go about their duties.
