  • Easy access to several tropical islands in the Great Barrier Reef
  • Supportive, cohesive and connected team culture across the region

Central Region encompasses offices across the middle of our state, from Hervey Bay on the coast to Longreach in the west and up to Rockhampton. With a sub-tropical climate, Central Queenslanders enjoy an average of 300 days of sunshine every year. This makes for some ideal opportunities to explore the region during your free time. Central Region has easy access to a large number of tropical islands nestled on the Great Barrier Reef and no shortage of National Parks to visit – 33 to be exact!

As part of our work in the region, we undertake reporting in rural and remote circuits, providing our officers the opportunity to work closely with these communities and experience the diverse landscapes and townships on their travels.

In Central Region, we value the relationships we have with local stakeholders and we have a strong emphasis on building and maintaining these relationships. There are opportunities to network with a diverse range of community members and organisations, working collaboratively to deliver appropriate interventions for individuals.

Officers in the region participate in community training and development opportunities. For example, in recent times, Gladstone has delivered the ‘Respectful Relationships: Love Bites’ program across local high schools, supporting and promoting change towards Domestic and Family Violence. This has been undertaken in conjunction with a number of other local government agencies, including CCRDVF (Coordinated Community Response to Domestic and Family Violence), Queensland Police Service, Headspace, Women’s Health, and Act for Kids.

Across our region, we value a close, cohesive and support team environment in all our offices, and we always make time to celebrate and acknowledge milestones, birthdays, achievements, and key events such as International Women’s Day. Whether it’s a cake at morning tea or an after-hours social event like an art class or a team building ‘Escape Room’ event, we always take the time to recharge and build meaningful relationships.
