Queensland Corrective Services Photo Shoot 2014

Personal visits restricted South East Queensland

Due to community transmission of COVID-19 in South East Queensland, Queensland Corrective Services is cancelling personal visits in South East Queensland prisons until further notice under Stage 3 restrictions.

The decision was made following consultation with Queensland Health, and affects prisons from Maryborough south to the border and west to Gatton.

The prisons affected include Maryborough, Woodford, Arthur Gorrie, Brisbane, Brisbane Women’s Wolston, Borallon and Southern Queensland high security prisons, as well Palen Creek, Helana Jones and Numinbah low security centres.

Virtual Personal Visits, email, phones and mail will be unaffected.

Wearing of masks will be mandatory for staff in correctional centres in Stage 3.

Queensland Corrective Services will continue to work closely with Queensland Health, and as soon as we are advised it is safe to recommence visits, we will do so.

We appreciate the impact of cancelling visits, and thank families for their patience as we work to keep COVID-19 out of our centres.

Community Corrections will also move to Stage 3 restrictions from Hervey Bay DO south to the border and west to Ipswich DO including reporting offices in those locations.

People who are required to attend these offices should contact their case officer to organise alternative arrangements.
