Spend a day in the life of a QCS recruit with new video series!
If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to be a Custodial Correctional Officer (CCO), our new video series might be for you.
The series follows Dan, one of our latest recruits, from his first day at the Queenland Corrective Services (QCS) Academy to his new job at Borallon Training and Correctional Centre.
Follow his journey as he undergoes fully paid theoretical and tactical training to expand his skills and knowledge.
The first episode drops this Thursday, and the series runs for seven weeks. You can find it on our website, Facebook page, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as our YouTube channel.
Custodial Correctional Officers receive 10 weeks fully paid training at the QCS Academy or at our prisons outside of SEQ, before joining the frontline.

Last year QCS trained more than 1,000 CCOs, and this year we’re hoping to recruit many hundreds more.
QCS is the fourth largest department in the Queensland Government with more than 9000 officers across the State.
We manage 11 high security and six low security correctional centres and operate 35 Community Corrections district offices and more than 140 reporting offices from the tip of the Torres Straight to the NSW border and west to Camooweal.
We also have 13 work camps embedded in regional and remote Queensland communities, assisting with activities such as maintenance of public facilities.
We hope you enjoy Dan’s story, and if you want to learn more, take a look at our careers page to find out how you too can join QCS!
